Added Photos of Some of our Adventures in Egypt

Earlier this month we took an 11-day trip to Egypt - and I’ve finally had time to catch up, review, edit and post some of the 2,000+ photos that I took during the trip. It was a great trip that allowed us to see a lot of spectacular sights and hike all over Egypt – from the Lower Kingdom to the Upper Kingdom (both in the desert and in the urban areas). Here’s a short list of the places that we went and the sights we saw  (click on any photo to start the slideshow):

5. Colossi of Memnon (built for Pharaoh Amenhotep III in ~1350 BC)
6. Temple of Hatshepsut (the second historically-confirmed female Pharaoh)

   1. Tomb of Ramses IV (reigned from 1155 to 1149 BC)
   2. Tomb of Tutankhamun (reigned from 1332 to 1323 BC)
   3. Tomb of Ramses III (reigned from 1186 to 1155 BC)
   4. Tomb of Seti I (reigned from 1290 to 1279 BC)
8. Temple of Karnak (dedicated to the god Amun – the King of Gods)
9. Esna
   1. Temple of Khnum (the Ram-headed creator God)
10. Edfu
    1. Temple of Horus (the Sky God)
11. Kom Ombo
    1. Temple of Haroeris (the Sun God) and Sobek (the Crocodile God)
12. Aswan
    1. Unfinished Obelisk (from ~1500 BC)
    2. Philae Temple (dedicated to the Goddess Isis)
13. Abu Simbel
    1. Temple of Ramses II (reigned from 1279 to 1213 BC)
    2. Temple of Nefertari (the most important consort of Ramses II)
14. Cairo
    1. Mosque of Sultan Hassan (opened in 1359 AD)
    2. Al-Rifa'i Mosque
    3. Khan el-Khalili Bazaar
    4. Coptic Church of Saint Barbara (Consecrated 5th Century AD)
    5. Coptic Church of Saint Serguis (built where Joseph, Mary and the infant Jesus Christ rested at the end of their journey into Egypt. Consecrated 4th Century AD)
    6. Ben Ezra Synagogue
